Managing Portfolios

Watch vs. Investment Portfolios
A portfolio is a collection of stocks.  mPortfolio uses the term "stock" to refer to a number of different asset types.   Stocks can be shares in a company, mutual funds, ETFs, etc...   Portfolios are a collection of these different types of "stocks".
  • An Investment portfolio is a collection of stocks that you have a position in.  When you create an Investment portfolio you provide details about your purchase and mPortfolio periodically refreshes each stock with its current trading price.   You can view details about the individual stocks as well as how they are performing as a group.
  • A Watch portfolio is simply a set of stocks that you are interested in following.   Adding an asset to a Watch portfolio uses its current trading price to create a "baseline" from which its performance is measured.
